Paul Edward Gates, 52, of Watford City, N.D., died Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at his Watford City residence.?Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Watford City Assembly of God Church. Pastor Sheldon McGorman will officiate and inurnment will follow at Wilmington Lutheran Cemetery in Arnegard, N.D. Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City from 1-5 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.?Paul Edward Gates was born Aug. 31, 1960, in Gillette, to George and Cecelia (Waldrop) Gates. He attended school in Gillette, and later moved to Watford City, where he graduated in 1978. After graduation, he began working in the oil industry; he worked from the bottom up and was currently an oil consultant.?Paul enjoyed going to the Black Hills and going gold panning. He enjoyed fishing and camping and enjoyed watching football and Nascar. Most of all, he enjoyed being a grandpa and spending time with his grandkids and his daughter and son-in-law. Paul was one of the best dad’s and grandpa’s in the world. Paul always needed his cup of coffee in the mornings before anyone could talk to him. After that, he was an easy going happy person; a little stubborn at times, but who isn’t? He would tell you like it was. Most of all, Paul had a heart full of gold.?Paul is survived by his daughter, Tyla Gates; son-in-law, Matt Tverberg; grandsons, Evan and Dylan Tverberg; sister, Tarla Dolbare; and his step-father, Don Davidson, all of Watford City, N.D.?He was preceded in death by his mom, Cissy (Waldrop) Davidson; sister, Tina; and his father, George Gates.?Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City is assisting the family with arrangements.
