Julie Schreibeis, 63, of Belle Fourche, South Dakota, died Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Heartland Senior Living Center in Spearfish.

A celebration of life service begins at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 7 at Leverington Funeral Home of the Northern Hills, with Pastor Paul Howard officiating.  There will be no visitation. Friends may leave written condolences and view a video tribute online at: LeveringtonFH.com.

Julie Ellen Knigge was born June 23, 1960, in Riverton, Wyoming. She was the daughter of Clifford and Alyce (Eatherton) Knigge.

Julie grew up in Gillette and in the late 1970s she moved to Sheridan, Wyoming, where she earned her high school diploma.

Julie was married to Roger Olson shortly afterwards, to this union a son, Jesse, was born. Together they lived in Wyoming, and later divorced.

On April 7, 1985, Julie was united in marriage to Kent Schreibeis in Sheridan. To this union two daughters were born: Eleana and Christina. Kent died Jan. 21, 2008.

The first time Julie ever saw the ocean was in Monterey. She fell in love right away, and in 2016, she moved to the Florida Keys. She loved the marine life, the sand and the beach, and everything that the ocean had to offer.

In 2020, Julie moved to Belle Fourche, where she lived with her mother, Alyce. Together they took care of each other and enjoyed each other’s company, before Alyce died in January of 2024. Julie loved doing anything outdoors. Yard work, landscaping, gardening, hiking, and biking were at the top of her list for doing things in the open air.

Julie is survived by her son, Jesse (Christina) Olson of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Eleana Schreibeis of Sheridan; six grandchildren, Alazei, Bishop, Constantine, Ben Jr., Trinity, and Titan; sisters, LaDona Knigge of Chico, California, and Jodi Sprague of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Jay Knigge (Missy) of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and her special cousin, Tammy Preston of Gillette.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Christina Metzger; and brother, Donald Knigge.
