Dennis Hillius

Gillette resident Dennis Hillius, 59, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2018, of a heart attack.

A memorial service begins at 2 p.m., Wednesday at New Life Wesleyan Church.

He was born Aug. 17, 1959, in Deadwood, South Dakota, the son of Dwayne and Doris Hillius.

He lived with his parents and four siblings — Donald, Darrell, Doug and Dianne — for a time in Shirley Basin, then moved with his family to Gillette as a teenager.

He enjoyed participating in a men’s life group at New Life Wesleyan Church, where he also worked as a custodian since 2011.

He enjoyed cooking for his wife, Virginia, fishing, playing cards and watching wrestling and football.

He and Virginia were together for more than 31 years, and they were married June 22, 2017.

Mr. Hillius and his three brothers enjoyed playing horseshoes and going to stock car races.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia of Gillette; father, Dwayne of Sundance; brother, Donald of Gillette; and six nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Doris; brothers, Darrell and Doug; and sister, Dianne.
